This Mercedes 1222 4×4 overland truck was completed in 2023 and is designed for long-distance overland travel with two or more people, including couples, small families, and travellers with dogs. An ideal truck to drive to Kathmandu, Johannesburg or for instance Ushuaia.
The combination of a short 3.60 m wheelbase, a large sleeper cab, and a 4.80 m living unit creates a travel companion that remains compact and easier to drive than many larger overland and expedition trucks. Its manageable size makes travelling on smaller roads, mountain routes, and remote tracks more comfortable while still providing generous living space.
A unique feature is the customized spacious sleeper cab. It offers room for additional passengers, children, or dogs and includes a separate sleeping area behind the driver's seat. A crawl-through connects the heated cab with the living area, allowing safe and convenient access between both sections day and night without leaving the vehicle. The center console is equipped with a collapsible 3rd passenger seat.
The extended cab roof creates additional storage opportunities and supports a purpose-built roof rack with storage boxes for tools, spare parts, recovery equipment, and other travel essentials. This practical solution helps keep bulky equipment outside the living area while remaining easily accessible during long journeys.
